Harriet’s Church

12″X12” Acrylic on canvas

Urban, but not a sketch. This is another I have been working on for the “Small Feats” fundraiser, now postponed indefinitely.

The Salem Chapel, or British Methodist Episcopal Church was founded in 1820 by African American freedom seekers and was a centre of abolitionist activity. Harriet Tubman was probably the most famous member of this congregation.
It is located in downtown St. Catharines.

Another Small Feat

12″X12” Acrylic on canvas

I have started working on some paintings for NAC’s annual “Small Feats” fundraiser. Here is the first, perhaps not quite finished but nearly there.
I am not sure that you can actually see these buildings anymore, they are pretty hidden behind the Meridian Centre. But a few years ago these rear views were among the first things you saw when coming off the 406. I always liked them. I believe that the stilts were there because rge raceway used to run along there.
