Born in Europe, I have lived in various places on both sides of the Atlantic, currently in Southern Ontario. My family are musicians and writers and I worked in arts management, I am surrounded by talent.
I am largely self-taught, to the extent that anyone is self-taught. We are all a product of those who came before, all our experiences, everything we have seen or read, every bit of helpful advice received from a friend or mentor and every piece of criticism received from friends and enemies alike. I don’t have a message, but sometimes I have a story. My paintings provide a narrative to my life. So I am more an illustrator than a ‘fine’ artist.
My style is constantly evolving and I have done everything from intricate pen-and-ink to splashy watercolours to stylized linocut prints. My subject matter is similarly eclectic but recently I have been specializing in scenes from around my home in the Niagara Peninsula, both the farmland and the small towns, often neglected and run-down but still interesting. I also have a wealth of inspiration in the lakes, canals and rivers all around.
I have been painting all my life, one day I will get it right.
